The statutory levy that is imposed on various self-pollinating crops is administrated by SACTA for the purpose of breeding new varieties of these crops which include the latest technologies where applicable.

SACTA’s Strategic Objectives are to:

• Be an effective organization for the collection and distribution of the statutory levy to support innovation in plant breeding and technology development for the qualifying the beneficiaries according to their market share.
• Achieve an average levy collection rate of at least 90% for all crops.
• Build a relationship of trust and integrity with all relevant industry stakeholders in agriculture.
• Develop and implement an innovative transformation strategy and plan in accordance with the NAMC guidelines.
